Nations
Nations are alliances of towns that work together for mutual benefit and political power. This guide explains everything about creating and managing nations on SolarCiv.
What is a Nation?
A nation is a collection of towns united under a single leadership. Nations provide additional townblock claims to member towns, enable diplomatic relationships with other nations, and create opportunities for large-scale cooperation and conflict.
Creating a Nation
Only town mayors can create nations. To create a nation, you must:
Have enough money to pay the nation creation cost (1,024 gold ingots in the town bank).
Use /nation new [name] to establish your nation.
Refer to Rule 4.1 Nation Names Nation names must match real-world (historic or present) regions, provinces, or large geographical areas, correspond to the capital's map location, and not be fictional, meme-based, duplicate, or offensive. It must be in the correct geographical area where it is created. Mythological and fictional names inspired by real-life locations are not allowed. If you are unsure if you should make it, you probably shouldn't make it. Ensure that you do not use any offensive names.
When you create a nation, your town automatically becomes the capital city, and you become the nation leader.
Nation Hierarchy
Nation Leader
The nation leader has complete control over the nation. The leader can:
Invite and remove towns from the nation.
Set nation taxes and settings.
Declare allies and enemies.
Assign ranks and titles to residents of member towns.
Transfer leadership to another player.
Manage the nation bank.
Delete the nation if necessary.
Capital City
The capital is the founding town of the nation. The mayor of the capital automatically becomes the nation leader.
The capital can be changed to another town within the nation using /nation set capital [town]. When the capital changes, the mayor of the new capital becomes the nation leader.
Member Towns
All other towns in the nation are member towns. They benefit from the nation but have less direct control over nation affairs.
Member towns can leave the nation with /nation leave unless they are the capital.
Nation Benefits
Claim Bonus
Nations provide a bonus to the number of townblocks each member town can claim. This bonus increases as the nation grows larger.
A nation grants additional claims based on the total number of residents in the nation.
Protection and Cooperation
Member towns of the same nation cannot attack each other.
Nations can share resources, coordinate projects, and work toward common goals.
Diplomatic Relations
Nations can forge alliances with other nations for mutual protection or cooperation.
Nations can declare enemies to signal opposition or prepare for conflict.
These relationships affect permissions, conflicts, and server politics.
Managing a Nation
Inviting Towns
Use /nation add [town] to send an invitation to a town. The town's mayor receives the invitation and can accept or deny it.
Towns can also request to join open nations using /nation join [name] if the nation has enabled open joining.
Removing Towns
Use /nation kick [town] to remove a town from the nation. Kicked towns lose all nation benefits immediately.
The capital city cannot be removed unless leadership is transferred first or the nation is deleted.
Nation Ranks
Grant ranks to residents of member towns to give them specific permissions or roles:
/nation rank add [player] [rank] grants a rank.
/nation rank remove [player] [rank] removes a rank.
Common ranks include Assistant, Chancellor, and custom ranks defined in server configuration.
Nation Diplomacy
Allies
Allies are nations you have friendly relations with. Allied nations:
Cannot declare war on each other.
Share certain permissions in each other's territories.
May coordinate on projects or against common enemies.
/nation ally add [nation] sends an alliance request.
/nation ally remove [nation] ends an alliance.
Both nations must agree to form an alliance.
Enemies
Enemies are nations you have declared opposition against. Enemy status:
Signals conflict and opposition.
Prevents players in that nation from being able to teleport to your nation capitals spawn.
Affects diplomatic standing with other nations.
/nation enemy add [nation] declares a nation as an enemy.
/nation enemy remove [nation] removes enemy status.
Unlike alliances, enemy declarations are unilateral.
Nation Finances
Nation Bank
The nation bank stores funds for nation expenses and projects. Funds can come from:
Nation taxes collected from member towns.
Direct deposits from the leader or member towns.
/nation deposit [amount] deposits money into the nation bank.
/nation withdraw [amount] withdraws money as the nation leader.
Nation Taxes
Nations can tax member towns to fund the nation bank:
/nation set taxes [amount] sets a daily tax on each member town.
Taxes can be a flat rate or percentage based on server settings.
Use /nation toggle taxpercent to switch between flat and percentage taxation.
Towns that cannot pay nation taxes may accumulate debt or be removed from the nation.
Nation Settings

Change your nation name with /nation set name [name]. Choose a name that represents your nation and follows server rules (refer to rule 4.1 Nation Names).

Set a nation spawn point with /nation set spawn. This allows nation members, allies, and outsiders (if the nation is set to "public") to teleport to a central location.
The spawn must be set within the capital city.
Board Message
Set a nation board message with /nation set board [message]. This message appears to nation members when they log in.
Nation Toggles

Advanced Nation Management
Nation Merging
Nations can sometimes merge together, combining their towns and resources:
The process requires agreement from both nation leaders.
One nation is dissolved while its towns join the surviving nation.
Nation banks and territories are typically combined.
