Travel

SolarCiv’s travel is built around connection, community infrastructure, and meaningful distance. We keep teleport options focused and encourage players to build roads, rails, and ice highways that link towns and nations together.

Quick Travel Commands

Nation Spawn

Use your nation capital as your fast-travel hub.

  • Command: /n spawn <nation>
  • Public requirement: A nation spawn must be public for players to teleport to it
  • Privacy option: Nation capitals can be toggled off public so only nation members can teleport there

Town Spawn

A reliable way to return home.

  • Command: /t spawn
  • Availability: Only works for your own town
  • Best for: Getting back to your town centre after travelling, mining, exploring, or trading

Note: We don’t allow teleporting directly to any random town’s spawn - the goal is to promote real transit routes and town-to-town connections.

Player-Built Travel Networks

Ice Highways

Ice highways are one of the fastest community-built travel options in SolarCiv.

  • Built by players to connect towns and regions
  • Designed for speed, safety, and convenience
  • Wilderness public ice highways are protected by server rules (don’t grief them)

/boat Command

To reduce boat congestion and keep travel smooth:

  • Command: /boat
  • Spawns a boat instantly on ice
  • The boat disappears when you get out

Safety Warning

  • PvP may still be permitted in wilderness areas
  • Stay alert, especially on long routes

Vanilla Travel Tweaks

We’ve made a few quality-of-life changes to support more diverse travel without turning the world into constant teleporting.

Faster Horses on Path Blocks

All rideable mobs can travel faster on proper pathways.

  • Up to 1.5x speed while riding on selected path blocks
  • Dirt paths + a fast horse = rapid overland travel
  • Encourages building roads between towns

Faster Minecarts

Minecarts are actually useful now.

  • Player-ridden minecarts have max speed increased
  • Capped at 20 m/s
  • Great for rail networks between towns, districts, and trade hubs

Riptide Tridents

Riptide is a strong option for water-based travel.

  • Tridents can be obtained via purchase or vote crates
  • Enchant with Riptide to launch yourself through water and rain
  • Great for coastlines, rivers, canals, and sea routes

Travel Philosophy

SolarCiv intentionally limits certain travel methods to keep geography meaningful and encourage real-world style infrastructure.

No Nether Travel

  • Nether travel is disabled
  • Keeps the overworld scale relevant and prevents instant long-distance skips, outside of public nation teleportation.

No Elytra Travel

  • Elytra travel is disabled to foster more thoughtful connections between towns and nations

Why This Matters

Travel creates trade routes, rivalries, alliances, and community projects. The goal is for towns and nations to feel connected by what players build, not just by instant teleports.

If you want to help the server grow - build a road, connect a rail line, expand an ice route, or set up a safe travel hub near your town. Create a network of collaboration with your neighbours, and beyond.
